SALUTE TO LIU XIAOBO - the Nobel Peace Prize recipient..

History does not teach fatalism. There are moments when the will of a handful of free men breaks through determinism and opens up new roads. ~Charles de Gaulle.
Down with Chinese oppression. Salute to Liu Xiaobo!
Liu Xiaobo, one of the authors of Charter 08, was sentenced to 11 years in prison on Christmas day last year. You would think that following imprisonment, it would at least be easy to keep track of someone, but in China you would be wrong.
Jailed Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo's absence was marked with an empty chair at the ceremony to award his Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, Norway on Friday.
This marks the second time in its more than 100-year history that neither the recipient or any representative was unable to collect the prestigious prize.
The last time was 1936, when Adolf Hitler prevented German journalist and pacifist Carl von Ossietzky -- who was imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp -- from claiming the award.

Bahadur Shah Zafar.

Tribute to Mandal Messiah - Vishwanath Pratap Singh

Vishwanath Pratap Singh (Hindi: विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह) (25 June 1931 – 27 November 2008) was the 8th Prime Minister of the Republic ofIndia and the 41st Raja Bahadur of Manda.
I remember him with great regard and respect. On his death anniversary on 27th November, I am sharing a photo of the public meeting at Maurice Nagar, Delhi University held on 24th July, 1987. I was the co-organiser of this meeting against Corruption, along with my friend and the then DUSU Secretary (later elected DUSU President) Narinder Tandon.

From British to US Slavery...sellers of India..

Speaking at Chandigarh on May 7, 2004 veteran popular actor Sunil Dutt expressed views on threat of US influence on India. He said. “India faces a grave threat from the American influence over its society. The BJP is committing the same mistake which Indian rulers made while dealing with the British before the country was annexed.”
Dutt said the party which raised slogans of “swadeshi” at different platforms before coming to power had criticised the economic policies of the Congress government for opening up the economy. The Congress knew where to draw the limits for foreign investors, he said. “The BJP is playing into the hands of US policies. Remember that even the British had come to our country on the pretext of having only trade relations,” he said.
The US influence is not merely in matters of trade. The culture is being invaded and music is being adulterated. We see a confusion of cultures on the roads. Such activities will never add pride to our country, he said.
What Sunil Dutt said then seems to be true even today when Congress is in power. Don’t we seem to learn from our past.

Let us see who have been on important positions of our Government in recent past.
For example Finance Ministers of India-
1990-1991 Yashwant Sinha : 1991 – 1996 Manmohan Singh; 1996 – 1998 P. Chidambaram; 1998 -2002 Yashwant Sinha; 2002 -2004 Jaswant Singh ; 2004 -2008 P. Chidambaram;
2008 -2009 Manmohan Singh; 2009 – till present Pranab Mukherjee.

We can observe their American connection, and how and why the Us relies on them to safeguard her interests, including creating jobs for Americans when unemployment is perennial political and social problem in India.

Dr Manmohan Singh Alternate governor for India, Board of governors, Asian Development Bank;Alternate governor for India, Board of governors, IBRD 1982-85: Alternate Governor for India , Board of governors, International Monetary Fund;
1983-84: Member, economic advisory council to the Prime Minister; August 1, 1987 - November 10, 1990: Secretary-general . and commissioner, south commission, Geneva.

Shri Pranab Mukherjee Member:(I) Board of Governors –(a) International Monetary Fund 1982-1985.
(b) World Bank, 1982-1985;(c) Asian Development Bank, 1982-1985;(d) African Development Bank, 1982-1985.
(ii) Chairman, Group 24 (a Ministerial group attached to IMF and World Bank)1984.
Shri P. Chidambaram Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School.
Shri Kapil Sibal M.A. (History), LL. M. Educated at St. Stephens College, University of Delhi, Delhi and Harward Law School, USA
Shri Yashwant Sinha ii) Drafting Committee of the UNCTAD Conference on Shipping in Geneva Consul-General of India, Frankfurt, West Germany.

It is important to note that US influence in India is also through the World Bank. World Bank is a term used to describe an international financial institution that provides leveraged loans to developing countries for capital programs. The World Bank comprises only two institutions: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA).

We can understand why ministers like Kapil Sibal look towards petty Secretaries of US Administration for commendation of their work in India.

You can have your own interpretation of these facts.

Homage to SS RAY

Obituory -
Former West Bengal Chief Minister Siddhartha Shankar Ray tonight died at his south Kolkata residence after a protracted illness.
He was 90 and survived by his wife Maya Ray. "Ray was ill for quite a long time and had been on dialysis since March. The end came about 6:50 pm," his confidential assistant M Kaviraj told PTI.
Ray, a close friend of former chief minister late Jyoti Basu, was elected as the chief minister in 1972. The Congress veteran, a former Punjab Governor, had also served as the Indian Ambassador to the US.
A confidant of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the 70s, he was appointed union minister (in-charge of West Bengal affairs) by her in 1971.
Ray was a grandson of revolutionary freedom fighter Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das.
It is an end of an era of Bengal & India.

ओबामा की भारत यात्रा OBAMA'S VISIT TO INDIA

US President Barack Obama today announced that "several landmark" deals worth USD 10 billion (nearly Rs 44,000 crore) have been reached between the two countries for creating about 50,000 jobs in the US.
WHAT ABOUT JOBS FOR INDIANS IN INDIA SARDAR MANMOHAN SINGH JI?
Something I found interesting about Obama in 2008, which am sharing - One of the lucky charms Obama carried during his presidential election campaign was a small idol of monkey God Hanuman. He got familiarized with Hanuman during his stay in Indonesia, where Hinduism is popular.

China messes up in Miss World 2010 - plays politics against Miss Norway

China messes up in Miss World 2010, and it is not out of context or an exaggeration to say that they blocked Miss Norway chances to win the crown. China has done again , what it is good at, playing politics everywhere and be vindictive in their words and action.
I remember, my Professor at Delhi University, Ms Mira Sinha Bhattacharji narrating how as interpretor for Prime Minister Nehru though she was personally known to Chinese Premier Chou-en-Lai, she was rebuked and ignored at an international Women's meet, by him, to express Chinese anger on India having extended asylum to His Holiness Dalai Lama, the God-King of Tibet.
There was no great surprise when Britain’s four contestants failed to make the final cut in the spectacular broadcast to an estimated one billion people around the world.
However, insiders were shocked that stunning 23-year-old Norwegian university graduate Mariann Birkedal - the odds on favourite - didn’t even make the top five.
According to reports last night, observers speculated the judges bowed to pressure from Beijing, which is involved in a bitter international spat with Norway.
China is said to be furious after the Oslo-based Nobel Peace Prize committee awarded the coveted prize to the jailed Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo earlier this month.
Chinese pettiness needs International contempt and rejection!

Respect AZADI of INDIA.

A Seminar at New Delhi on 21st October has set the discussion rolling.Let it be clear that Kashmir is an integral part of India and this is irrevocable.
Martyrs including Rani Lakshmi Bai, Veerapandya Kattabomman, Khudiram Bose, Asfaqullah Khan, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad and many others have sacrificed their lives for our freedom (AZADI). Many lives can be taken if there is an attempt to demean our freedom or conspire to disintegrate our existence.
Isn't it a sham when likes of Geelani talk about their Azadi, after having snatched not only the Azadi of Kashmiri pandits, but also their homes and lives!
In late 1989 and early 1990, due to these extremists the pandits began leaving the Valley. However, the socio-political situation in Kashmir continues to be volatile, with the displaced Kashmiri Pandits beginning to lose their cultural identity. According to some reports and the Indian National Human Rights Commission, the Kashmiri Pandit population in Jammu and Kashmir dropped from 15 percent in 1941 to 1 percent as of 2001. In 2009 Oregon Legislative Assembly passed a resolution to recognize 14 September 2007, as Martyrs Day to acknowledge ethnic cleansing and campaigns of terror inflicted on non-Muslim minorities of Jammu and Kashmir by terrorists seeking to establish an Islamic state.
Azadi call is blasphemous all over India, as you know the existence of the Nation when in question shall spell doom and peril. Then all Human Rights, Media liberty and great sounding idioms, shall become incongruous. Haven't we seen the fate of Russian Republics, and don't we realize the conspiracy. History should be used to learn from it, and not just remember it!

MEA blocks Dalai Lama PhD

I just read the news that the Government of India decides to kowtow before China again by blocking PhD degree to H.E.Dalai Lama. Was it a honour to His Holiness Dalai Lama(He is also recipient of the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize) or India herself. Though the Dalai Lama has received similar honorary doctorates from at least half a dozen top international institutions, Jamia would have been the first Indian higher educational institution to confer one on him. And what do we expect from China. Does the weak Manmohan Government think that China will stop strategic encirclement of India? Aren't we committing the Himalayan blunder again.
Moreover, the present Government is insulting Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, who had welcomed 26 year His Holiness Dalai Lama himself, by going all the way to Mussorie(see video). Pt Nehru faced Chinese backstabbing, who attacked India in 1962, on this issue. The shock later cost his life, and he died a broken heart statesman.
All Indians need to think over this, and protest, if they feel that Government of India need to realize that the Chinese Dragon is its enemy no1.

SALUTE TO SHAHEED BHAGAT SINGH

Today, on the Birth Anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh I SALUTE the memory of my and the hero of many Indians.

Bhagat Singh (Punjabi: ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ بھگت سنگھ, IPA: [pə̀ɡət̪ sɪ́ŋɡ]) (27 September 1907 – 23 March 1931) was an Indian freedom fighter, considered to be one of the most influential revolutionaries of the Indian independence movement. He is often referred to as Shaheed Bhagat Singh (the word shaheed means "martyr").

Born to a Sikh family which had earlier been involved in revolutionary activities against the British Raj in India, Singh, as a teenager, was attracted to communism. He became involved in numerous revolutionary organizations. He quickly rose through the ranks of the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA) and became one of its leaders, converting it to the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA). Singh gained support when he underwent a 64-day fast in jail, demanding equal rights for Indian and British political prisoners. He was hanged for shooting a police officer in response to the killing of veteran freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai. His legacy prompted youth in India to begin fighting for Indian independence and also increased the rise of socialism in India.

Commonwealth Games - Raise Nation's Prestige, NOT your WEALTH.

Games – An Occasion to raise Nation’s Common Pride ! Not the Wealth of some!!

It is difficult to consider that Games are just for Sports. Since very early days Games have been occasion to uplift National prestige and power. China hosted 2008 Olympics to show her growing political and military powers. In 1936 Hitler as the Head of Germany hosting Berlin Olympics used the games to exhibit his power and Germany’s prestige.

There is no doubt that the 1936 Berlin Olympics served as a watershed moment in the panoply of modern Olympic games history. The Berlin games were by far the largest games held to date. A record 3.77 million spectators showed up to support a record 4,066 athletes (including a record 328 women) from a record 49 countries. The most up-to-date radio equipment helped to transmit the Berlin games around the globe, and the high powered, state run propaganda machinery that advertised the games incurred a greater expense than previous hosts had spent on running the games alone. The Berlin games, as almost everyone now knows, were also the first to overtly use the Olympic festival for conspicuously and identifiably political purposes, "an obscuring layer of shimmering froth on a noxious wave of destiny," as historian Richard Mandell once called the Berlin ceremonial. And the Berlin organizers certainly proved to be adept, imaginative, and creative in the use of pageantry and symbols, especially in the service of a distinctly Teutonic agenda that furthered the political ambitions of the insurgent Nazi party. We owe the famed torch relay to the modern German not the ancient Greek imagination.

The 1980 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXII Olympiad, were an international multi-sport eventcelebrated in Moscow in the Soviet Union. In addition, the yachting events were held in Tallinn, and some of the preliminary matches and the quarter-finals of the football tournament were held in Leningrad, Kiev, and Minsk. The 1980 Games were the first to be staged in Eastern Europe. The United States and 64 other countries boycotted the games because of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, though athletes from some boycotting countries participated in the games, under the Olympic Flag. This prompted the Soviet-led boycott of the 1984 Summer Olympics.

The 1st Asian Games were held from March 4 to March 11, 1951 in Delhi, India. Originally scheduled to be held in 1950, it was postponed until 1951 due to delays in preparations. His Highness Maharaja Yadavindra Singh played an important role in its organisation . Although Japan was barred from the 1948 Summer Olympics in London and was not invited to the founding meeting of the Asian Games Federation, it was allowed to compete in the inaugural Asian Games. Meanwhile, Korea was not able to participate due to the Korean War.

The 9th Asian Games were held from November 19, 1982 to December 4, 1982 in Delhi, India. This was the second time the Games were held in Delhi as it was also host to the inaugural 1951 Asian Games. New Delhi joined Bangkok (four times) as the only cities to host multiple editions of the Asian Games. The Delhi Asian Games was the first Asiad to be held under the aegis of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The Asian Games Federation, under whose jurisdiction the first eight Asian Games had been held, dissolved to make way for the OCA.A total number of 4,595 athletes, coming from 33 countries, competed in this Asiad. Debut sports were equestrian, golf, handball, rowing, and Women's field hockey.

Commonwealth Games ranks second after Olympics as the largest sorting event worldwide. Commonwealth Games are held every 4 years. History of Commonwealth Games dates back to the 1930s when it was held for the first time at Hamilton in Canada. Earlier it was referred to as British Empire Games. The 2010 Commonwealth Games will be the nineteenth Commonwealth Games, and the ninth to be held under that name. The Games are scheduled to be held in New Delhi, India between 3 October and 14 October 2010. The games will be the largest multi-sport event conducted to date in Delhi and India generally, which has previously hosted the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. It will also be the first time the Commonwealth Games will be held in India and the second time the event has been held in Asia (after 1998 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).

But what is doubtful is whether these Games will at all raise nation’s prestige? The problem is Corruption. None of these politicians or others in the organizing Committee are there for love of Sports but to make money. It is indeed sad that those who hold power in this country have closed their eyes to this blasphemy.

Let us wish best for India and her prestige in these games and hope those who attempted to tarnish her image are in the best place they should be – JAIL!
